HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER NGOs
NILIMA FOUNDATION works with its partners - local NGOs, social organizations or social workers who are working on social projects for the financial upliftment of the local poor, especially women. One local person or a group of person is selected as the Nodal Agency of NILIMA FOUNDATION for that village/area and one local is employed part/full time on behalf of the Foundation to coordinate with the beneficiaries.
The project partners of NILIMA FOUNDATION meet the local poor, discuss and study their financial conditions, their skills & strengths. Then they encourage them to start some income generating activities – like farming, tailoring, fishery, animal husbandry, poultry, fast-food business, small grocery shop, bus-stand tea stall etc. The partners then contact us with their business detail plan and financial estimates to start those activities by the poor. The partners also take the responsibilities to train the poor in those income generating activities.
NILIMA FOUNDATION does not donate any cash money to the poor directly, although few exceptions are there. It offers refundable seed money on soft term in the form of small working capital. This seed money helps the poor to start their own business and empower them economically and socially by creating self-reliance and economic sustainability. The beneficiaries enjoy the benefits of the refund of the seed money on very soft terms.
NILIMA FOUNDATION aims to promote self-sufficiency of the poor people, particularly, the women.
